A single organ donor can save the lives of up to eight people by donating the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas and intestines. One tissue donor can improve the lives of more than 50 people by donating eyes, bone, soft tissue, heart valves, veins and skin.
Although the methods to gather organ donor information have changed over the years, the basics are the same. The most effective long-term way to serve people waiting for organ transplants is enlisitng more organ donors. We believe, people who have the opportunity and the ability will make appropriate common sense decisions which will have a positive and uplifting effect on themselves and their community. The campaign is a pro-active pursuit of that endeavor.
The mission of The Save 50 Lives Campaign, through individual organ donor drives and various media efforts, is to encourage individuals to accept the responsibility of organ donation. Save 50 Lives Campaign creates public service campaigns to communicate the value of organ donation and the human need to help others. The Campaign will use television, theaters, billboards, radio, internet, etc., to encourage others to step up to a higher level and then to pass on the awareness they have learned.
